Bracket Salon

A couple of weeks ago I went to the third Bracket Salon. Its a monthly themed event where freelancers are invited in to debate and generate ideas. This salon was all about story telling, with a group of artists who all love to tell stories via different mediums.

Carfumes

I'm running an After School Zine Club called Carfumes at the Jester Jacques Gallery Pop-Up shop which will be at Boxpark on Wednesday 20th 6.30pm – 9pm.

The night is about re-branding all of our favourite perfumes for a laugh. Think Dolce and Gabana it's now Dolce and Banana....

Through illustration and witty copywriting help create a Zine – all in the name of silly.

This week and so

This week I have been all over the place and haven't had the chance to share anything.

Firstly on tuesday after work I found out I had been selected to be in the Artists’ Books on Tour show and given an honourable mention!

Ive been working on a new book this week, its inspired by the never ending frustration of post. This is a book about all the weird stuff I'd quite like to send in the post (whilst waiting for post.)

.. the first thing being me.

Yesterday I went to the D&D show and went to a Zine Workshop led by Alex Zamora of Feverzine.

Which was tonnes of fun!! and I made a little zine on my kitten in an edition of 15.



And I was also featured on Ballad Of. [check the site out it's filled with some really nice stuf!!]

London zine symposium

On sunday I went to the London Zine Symposium, I met some awesome people, came home with some real unusual stuff, and spent most the day drawing...

V&A

On friday I went to the V&A to see some of the monthly late night events. seen here.

I went to these events... 
'Our floor is better than your floor' Join Invasion, an art collective from Camberwell Art College, in its big give away! Inspired by the V&A mosaic floor they invite you to take a little part of the evening home with you, but also ask you to leave a part of you behind, a trace in the form of a fingerprint. Over the course of the evening, they will create an archive, as each visitor coarsely declares his or her presence.

Dear Jon Get swept away by the nostalgia of vintage found postcards, and create new narratives with the aid of artist Jon Delgado. Exploring notions of memory, use cut outs, collage and other techniques to erase and superimpose images, and ultimately to create a whole new beautiful postcard.

Interrogating not only the artefact’s form, its structure and materiality, but also concepts of sequence and narrative, reading and authorship, students from BA Book Arts & Design investigate the book as a creative medium in its own right. The discipline moves from fine arts, graphic arts and design and the traditions of book production and publishing and is delimited only by our evolving ideas of what constitutes ‘bookness.’

Handmade and bound

Yesterday I went to Handmade and bound, the affordable book art and zine fair.

There was so much stuff I wanted to buy, but money doesnt grow on trees.. I bought three things though.

Zine exhibition

Three private viewings of exhibitions

Yesterday I went to three different openings of exhibtions in one night. An illustration one, a typography one and a design one.

The first was the Nychos Show at Pure Evil Gallery http://www.artrabbit.com/all/events/event/21094/nychos_show_at_pure_evil_gallery

This  exhibition was filled with everything I love in life, monsters and illustration.

And the third opening I went to was emerge at here http://thisisemerge.com/ This one was filled with some really nice design work, the kind of things you don't see every day. Much to my suprise as well I was given some free promotional stuff, which is always cool.

Zine art exhibition

Right now Im sitting on a train going back to London, but yesterday I went to the opening of the Zine art exhibition  in Birmingham with my friends. And I have to say all of the things I saw were just too cool :)

Random

Im in the process of moving to a new flat, so all my stuff is packed up in boxes, bags etc etc.

Irma Boom

Earlier on today Irma Boom http://www.irmaboom.nl/ came to LCC to give a talk on her work, which was interesting hearing how her work starts and evolves.
